Much of the 1952-mile border with Mexico has a fence, usually tin panel, barbed wire, or in some cases a wall, but is easily scalable or has holes or missing areas. This is especially true in California, and the absence of 3 miles of fencing near Imperial Beach, where photographer and lobbyist John Clark photographed the missing fence, lead to action on the part of Congress out of shear embarrassment to fund the mending of the fence through the Real ID Act.
If you live near the Mexican border, ever travel there, or are part of the Minuteman Project and want to photograph any holes in a fence, fences that are merely one, two, or several strands of barbed wire and easily scaled, or empty border lines with no fencing at all, we encourage you to photograph the broken, scalable, or missing fence and upload information here so we and all surfers to this site can contact the pertinent Congress person and lobby for a fix the way John Clark did. Once in the directory, multiple visitors will be able to file a complaint with Congress to instigate action.
Here we have developed a 4-state directory of photographs and profiles of broken or missing fences. Please feel free to complete form, submit, and we will consider for the directory. Once the information is posted, multiple surfers will be able to online-fax complaints to Congress. We do require one photograph with each upload. Please be truthful and only report information for actual gaps in the Mexican border. If you are not sure of certain statements, the sentences should be preceded by "I believe" or "It is my opinion that".*
This upload service is free.
