Write to Congress

The House of Representative and the Senate are notorious for being tolerant of failed immigration law enforcement and bill considerations that provide benefits to those who break immigration law, such as recognition of the Matricula Consular card, tuition reduction, and failure to pass anti-illegal alien provisions in a new anti-terrorism intelligence overhaul bill. The "political placebo" or "intel bill" that is the now approved bill forbids:

  • a ban on drivers' licenses for illegal aliens
  • a ban on the Matricula Consular card
  • new penalties for forging immigration documents
  • speedy deportation of illegal aliens
  • ending asylum for unsupported claims of persecution abroad
Although they rejected the President's guest-worker proposal early in 2004, the President made guest-worker slow-motion-amnesty his first priority after re-election and could compel a predominately Republican Congress to reconsider their positions in the near future.

The House of Representatives, Senate, and President recently passed H.R. 418, which will make it much harder for illegal aliens to receive drivers' licenses. Unfortunately, a measure that would have allowed bounty hunters to detain immigration law offenders was removed by the Senate. Mostly symbolic, illegals can still receive drivers' "permits" as opposed to licenses and can start bank accounts in many states without a drivers' licence, so much more needs to be done.

Thanks to your perseverance and hard work, we have defeated the year 2007 attempt to recognize blatant across-the-board amnesty by phoning, faxing, and mailing the Senate. It would appear President Bush has been defeated in all attempts to legalize 12-30 million illegal aliens through the end of his tenure.

We encourage all surfers to determine who their Congress person is at:

House of Representatives search and contact page

and emphasize it is their constitutional obligation to defend our borders, deport illegal aliens, and not create enticements for more illegal immigration, as well as provide a defensive solution rather than an offensive-only solution to securing the nation from terrorist elements. Likewise, please contact your Senators at:

Senate search and contact page

and do the same. Phone, e-mail/form-mail, mail, and sometimes fax information are always provided. You can fax Congress people online by joining the Action Network for NumbersUSA.com. Please see:

Action Network application page.

It is helpful to review your Congress person's report card on the subject of immigration. Please see:

Americans for Legal Immigration PAC has formed to address the disparity between the desire of the public for more control of illegal immigration and the actions of the US Congress. ALIPAC's members are active on many fronts and the organization endorses and contributes to candidates that support true immigration reform. See their Web site at:
